9:30

It is a Friday morning in the studio, as I clean the solar cooking pot. I pour water in the pot to the rim. I connect it to the solar panel, making sure the green wire is connected to positive and red wire to negative.

11:00

I begin to see the water steaming yet no boiling. It brings delight to a few people in my studio who have been watching me check on the pot.

11:40

I begin to see very tiny bubbles and decide to place the pasta in the pot. I haven't eaten breakfast and I am hungry . This turns to a mistake on my part, perhaps I should have given it another 30 minutes to an hour to boil.

12:00

The spaghetti is cooked and I disconnect the pot from the solar panel. I drain out the water and add pasta sauce. As I drain out the water, I noticed the water is not as hot as it usually is when I drain the water from cooking on a stove top.

Results

The spaghetti cooked through but it had a slightly weird texture, probably due to not placing in the pasta in when it was completely boiling. It was doughy or starchy, still edible, not bad but not stellar either. This test was run without insulation as I was curious how much of an important component it was. Yeah, it needs it. Now I wonder how long it will take to really "boil" a full pot. Next experiment cooking broccoli and Campbell soup.
